Inter attacker Alexis Sanchez is set to be quarantined on his return to his native Chile for upcoming World Cup qualifiers the the Chilean government minister for health Jamie Manalich has confirmed.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Inter from Manchester United and as a result finds himself in the second worst affected country worldwide by Coronavirus with there being over 10,000 cases in the country, many of which are in the Lombardy region, which the city of Milan is part of.

Chile are due to play away to Uruguay on March 26 and will play at home to Colombia on April 1 and Sanchez will not be alone in being quarantined with it understood that Bologna’s Gary Medel and Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal will be too.

Although none of the players mentioned are known to have any symptoms, the Chilean government are quarantining them as a precaution.

In an interview with Chilean newspaper Emol, Manalich said: “We do not make any distinction about the profession of people, because nobody is immune to this virus.

“Indeed, the quarantine determined today for Italy applies to everyone. Of course, if these players want to work out on a machine in their homes, or all be quarantined together at Juan Pinto Duran, then that’s their call.”
