Spanish news outlet Iusport have taken a look into the potential consequences that Getafe could face if they do not fulfil their upcoming Europa League last 16 fixture away to Inter.

The Madrid based club’s president Angel Torres has said a number of times in the past few days that his side have zero intention of travelling to Milan to take on the Nerazzurri due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.

The report points out that UEFA competition rules state that failure to fulfil a fixture will result in a 3-0 win being automatically awarded to the opposition team. Moreover, if a team does not take to the field to play their scheduled match, they will be fined €175,000.

Given the extraordinary circumstances, things could change but if they do not and UEFA decide to punish Getafe, the report goes on to state that the Azulones have a good chance at succeeding with an appeal.
