Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has urged people to ‘respect the rules’ after it was confirmed that he has contract COVID-19 known more commonly as Coronavirus.
Juventus announced late last night that the Italian centre back had tested positive for the virus and although he is currently showing zero symptoms of the virus, the club have confirmed that they are following everything they should be had he been showing symptoms regardless.
As a result, the Bianconeri club have quarantined players and staff and Inter have also had to go into isolation due to the fact they played their arch rivals just a few days ago.
Rugani is the first player in Serie A and in Europe’s top five leagues to have tested positive for the virus, which the World Health Organisation have labelled a pandemic.
“You will have read the news and that’s why I want to reassure all those who are worried about me, I’m fine. At this moment, however, I feel even more the duty to thank all the doctors and nurses who are struggling in hospitals to face this emergency,” the former Empoli player posted.
“I urge everyone to respect the rules, because this virus makes no distinctions! Let’s do it for ourselves, for our loved ones and for those around us.”
This season Rugani has made seven appearances across all competitions and although he has made zero goal contributions, he has helped the team keep a clean sheet three times.
