Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), has admitted it is impossible to predict what will happen after April 3 due to the ever changing nature of the Coronavirus situation.

April 3 is the date the current government decree is due to expire and also the date that Serie A and other sports in Italy are suspended until.

It is completely unclear what things will look like in a matter of days let alone weeks and there have been many suggestions made about possible ways for the football season to continue.

The idea of playoffs to decide things has been suggested as has the idea of playing on until the end of June but in order for this to happen European football’s governing body UEFA must postpone this Summer’s European Championship’s, something which appears likely to happen going by reports.

“What will happen after April 3? I have seen people make predictions and claims during this terrible time we are experiencing but it is clear to me that the ball is in the court of the technicians,” Malago explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai Uno show Uno Mattina this morning.

“If there is light at the end of the tunnel on April 3, it will be possible for a new schedule for the domestic and international competitions to be made. At the moment though, it is not possible to predict what will happen.”
