Barcelona have a strong interest in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, suggesting that they may not have reached an agreement with Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The report details how the Blaugrana’s interest in Lautaro is well known, with some in the Italian media suggesting that there has been an agreement between the Catalan club and the Argentine striker. However, it appears that Barcelona are keenly interested in Werner, a player highlighted by Inter in case Lautaro left for Spain in the summer.

Barça director Ramon Planes observed the 24-year-old German forward live, witnessing the Bundesliga club’s Champions League win over Tottenham earlier this week, the report continues. This suggests that Lautaro isn’t as close to joining Barcelona as some seem to think.

Werner has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2832 minutes. In that time, he’s scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists.
