Barcelona are hoping to pay a lower fee for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez by offering other players in exchange, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.

The report details how the Blaugrana are hoping to avoid paying Lautaro’s €111 million release clause. Instead, the Catalan club would value the Argentine forward even more, provided that Inter lower their cash request and accept players in exchange. The most likely names at the minute are Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal, Portuguese right back Nélson Semedo and Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo.

By including some players, the report continues, the Blaugrana are hoping to lower the cash figure to €50 million. Inter’s current thoughts regarding the idea are unknown.

Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2437 minutes. In that time, he’s scored 16 goals and provided four assists, forming a formidable partnership with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
