The Italian Footballers’ Association has published a statement on their official website complaining about the behaviour of some clubs during the Coronavirus emergency.
The statement details how the AIC are outraged to hear that some football clubs and international squads have summoned some of their players to train in small groups or to attend daily temperature checks. The AIC believe that it is irresponsible to force players to be summoned to check their temperature as it directly contradicts the advice for people to stay at home.
The statement has also called for clubs to justify using the DPCM – which allows athletes to train for national and international competitions if it’s of national interest – if they are using that to summon their players to training sessions. Also highlighted is the potential fact that some clubs might be summoning players in order to dock their pay if they decline.
Finally, the statement praises the work of the many doctors, nurses and health personnel who are working hard to fight the Coronavirus.
