Italian referee Marco Guida has chosen to self-isolate himself, following his officiating of the Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus last weekend, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Naples based newspaper Mattino.

The report details how the 38-year-old referee has decided to remain in quarantine in his home in Pompeii after it was revealed that Juventus defender Daniele Rugani had tested positive for the Coronavirus. The choice wasn’t imposed and the protocol didn’t require him to take these measures. The fourth referee Fabio Maresca and linesman Ciro Carbone also took the same measures.

Multiple Serie A players have tested positive for the Coronavirus, with Daniele Rugani being the first case. Other cases quickly appeared, including five Sampdoria players. Abroad the situation is no better, with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi both also testing positive for the contagion. Many are now calling for Euro 2020 to be postponed.
