Former Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon discussed his personal battle against the Coronavirus and his desire to return to normal in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Il Giorno.

“These days I’m only going out with my wife to do the shopping. The Monza park has also been closed here and I think it’s right.”

Bordon highlighted how things will also go back to normal for Inter.

“Definitely. I’ve always been attached to the Nerazzurri. The football environment isn’t exactly the same as before, but that stadium has been my home for many years.”

The 68-year-old Italian was sad about the move away from the San Siro that’s expected in a few years.

“It’s a great disappointment, I think the clubs will have their reasons. As long as there’s something left to remember it by.”

He spoke about his career with Inter and how different modern football is.

“I played 15 years at Inter. So, if you had quality, they’d keep you. You’d still go around making your mark, but it happened more rarely. Today it’s easier to find a player abroad.”

Bordon suggested that modern players are less willing to make sacrifices.

“I’m not saying no, and it’s not their fault either. The oratorio is not the first destination of the afternoon as it was for us. There is more fun, the world has changed.”

The 68-year-old thought that Samir Handanovic should remain the Nerazzurri’s first choice goalkeeper next season.

“Radu will return to Inter at the end of the season, as I read, but for me Handanovic will play two or three more years. We’ll have to wait.”

Finally, Bordon spoke about the Scudetto he won with Eugenio Bersellini.

“We were supposed to celebrate it with the club before an Inter home game in April, but at the moment that’s gone too. Hopefully we can do something about it, it’s also ten years since the Treble this year.”

Inter captain Samir Handanovic has made 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2700 minutes. In that time, he’s kept eight clean sheets and conceded 31 goals, impressing regularly. He suffered a hairline fracture to his left little finger, an injury that forced him to miss six games.
