Federica Schievenin, wife of Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella, discussed the current situation in Italy and the 23-year-old Italian in a Q&A with her followers on Instagram earlier today. Her words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

“We’re fine, we’re enjoying Nicolò who’s not been home much this year. We have our two girls filling our day. I study sometimes, he reads, we don’t watch much TV. And we practice. At the end of the day we’re devastated.”

Schievenin then discussed how Barella acts at home and how he isn’t a person who uses their mobile phone a lot.

“At home he is very calm, he helps me with the girls and the house but not much with the dogs. Touchy? No, he’s a hothead. And he’s anti-social, he doesn’t use his cell phone a lot.”

She then discussed his idol as well as his style as a father.

“His idol? Lebron James. Nicolo is special, the girls love him. Very attentive, caring, sweet, patient. For him, his girls come first and he dedicates a lot of time to them. Every goal he scores is dedicated to us as a family, to the sacrifices we have made and make.”

Schievenin also touched on the differences between living in Milan and living in Cagliari.

“Milan is a completely different city from ours. But we feel good here too. We live in a completely different way. Do we miss Sardinia? Always, leaving home is never easy.”

Finally, Schievenin discussed whether she is happy or not that Barella is an Inter player.

“I am happy when I see my husband at peace. So, wherever he is, the important thing is his serenity which is also ours. Anyway, we always cheer for Cagliari.”

Barella, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has made 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2036 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided six assists, being a core part of coach Antonio Conte’s midfield.
