Former Inter player and current Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has shared his belief that the current situation will improve shortly.

The global Coroanvirus pandemic has forced people into living lives they are far from accustomed too with many governments ordering complete lock downs of their countries and ordering people to remain inside their homes to stop the virus from potentially spreading.

“Afterwards it will be beautiful and that afterwards will come soon. Only a year has passed, and all this has happened. I’m destined to live many lives in one,” he explained in an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mihajlovic, who has been receiving treatment for cancer, then went on to state that he can understand why people are finding it difficult but living in isolation with strict rules to follow is something he has become accustomed to due to his treatment.

“I understand that for those who are not accustomed, it may seem like a sacrifice, but for me these precautions that they are implementing are easy to follow. I spent months locked in a hospital room, nine square metres, attached to wires and drip, without being able to open a window. You think it’s a problem to be with your family at home and go out on the terrace to smoke a cigarette?

“I’ve been using a mask for months and I don’t hug or shake hands. I didn’t have to change my habits. I’m a bit anti-social, it didn’t bother me to avoid many contacts, rather jokingly I often say that I will keep this precaution for the next five years.

“I like it. I’m not underestimating neither the dangers of the Coronavirus, that will eradicate, nor the anxiety of those who may not be used to being isolated at home.

“After months in the hospital, to stay at home with my family is a privilege. After the illness I have often said that everything has renewed value for me, and it looks beautiful to me. A breath of fresh air, a shower with water running down your face, the panorama. I now appreciate every single moment of my life.”

He also spoke on the recent Derby D’Italia between Juventus and Inter and what Juventus’ victory in the fixture signifies.

“That match said to me that Juve are still the strongest of all and when there are these matches, they do not make mistakes, as seen in both the first and return leg.

“Inter have bought many players but are still behind. Although Juve are doing worse than last year and Inter are doing better, the gap remains very large.”

Mihajlovic spent two years with Inter between 2004 and 2006. He made 43 appearances across all competitions for Inter, during which time he scored six goals and provided 12 assists.
