Inter have set their sights on signing Fiorentina’s Gaetano Castrovilli in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have already been in contact with Fiorentina in the past few months in order to lay the foundations for the deal but the report warns it will not be easy to deal with Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso.

Commisso does not want to let Castrovilli, who has been one of the biggest revelations in Serie A this term, go and he is understood to value him at in excess of €40 million.

Antonio Conte is understood to have given club leaders the go ahead and the Milan based newspaper go on to state that Inter are far from alone in courting him. Borussia Dortmund are known admirers as are other German clubs as well as some English clubs and Italian clubs.

This season, 23-year-old Castrovilli, who is under contract with La Viola until June 2024, has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided two assists for his teammates in just over 2200 minutes on the park in total.
