Former Inter midfielder Hernanes has discussed the hotly contested race for the Serie A title this season in an interview with Rome based newspaper La Repubblica.

As things stand, reigning Serie A champions Juventus are sitting at the top of the table with 63 points having played 26 matches. Lazio are in second place one point behind having played the same amount of games and Inter are in third on 54 points having played a game less.

“Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio team deserve to be up there and I am happy for everyone at Lazio who are surely enjoying this splendid ride. Watching them play is win and I hope that they can win the Scudetto,” he began the interview which appeared in today’s print edition of the newspaper.

“Everyone here in Brazil has followed the Italian league and are surprised by what Lazio are doing, especially because Juventus have won the Scudetto for eight years running with ease. Nobody could keep up with them but all the teams fighting for first place are the ones I played for in Italy.”

He then went on to speak on the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and shared his hopes to see the crisis end as soon as possible.

“More than the virus itself, I’m concerned about the fear it is causing among people and families. I salute you all, I hope that too many alarms will not arise, and that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible.”
