Lautaro Martinez is Barcelona’s top target for the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.
Barcelona are looking for a striker capable of providing competition for the ageing Luis Suarez and have set their sights on the 22-year-old, who has been in good form this season in his first season as a regular starter at Inter.
Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his current contract and it has been widely reported that Barcelona are unsure about paying this amount.
The report goes on to state that Barcelona’s back-up plan is Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Blaugrana had shown an interest in him in January when they were in need of a striker but Arsenal were unwilling to negotiate mid-season.
If Barcelona go on to sign Lautaro, Aubameyang could in fact end up at Inter who could use the funds raised through Lautaro’s sale to sign him, the report concludes.
