Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has revealed that he is of the belief that club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay with the club amidst interest from elsewhere.

Aubameyang’s current contract with the Premier League club is due to expire at the end of next season and this has led to intense speculation that he could be moved on in the Summer if a contract extension cannot be agreed to.

Aubameyang has been with the Gunners since a January 2018 move from Borussia Dortmund and seemingly wants to be playing regular Champions League football, something Arsenal cannot guarantee him.

Inter and Barcelona in particular have both been linked with making possible Summer transfer window moves for him with both sides looking to bolster their attacks.

During a live stream on streaming platform Twitch, Leno was asked if he thinks Arsenal will make any signings in the Summer.

“I’m not sure, it depends who’s going to leave and who stays. I don’t know. I think it depends if Auba signs a new contract or [if] he leaves. I don’t know what they are going to do. But if he leaves, of course, you need another player. ‘But I think he’s going to stay,” he is quoted as saying by British news outlet The Metro.

This season the 30-year-old Gabon national team forward has made 32 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored 20 goals and tallied one assist.
