Inter have announced that former player Joaquin Peiro has passed away at the age of 84 in an official statement posted on the club website.

Peiro spent two years on Inter’s books between 1964 and 1966 and formed part of Helenio Herrera’s legendary Grande Inter side that won all before them.

Peiro joined the club from fellow Serie A outfit Torino and would make a total of 47 appearances across all competitions for the club in which he scored 16 goals.

The Spanish striker joined Roma from Inter and would spend the final four years of his career with them. Peiro then entered the world of football management eight years later in 1978 when he took the reigns of Atletico Madrid’s B team.

He had a 26 year career in management which also included him managing the Atletic Madrid first team for a spell in 1990. He last managed in the 2003/04 season when he managed Spanish lower league side Murcia.
