Inter vice president Javier Zanetti has revealed that he is doing fine whilst in quarantine due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

Zanetti and the rest of the Inter team were forced into quarantine after Juventus defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for the virus just days after the two clubs faced off.

Speaking in an interview with Argentine radio station Radio Continental late last night, Zanetti firstly spoke on the situation in Milan and how it compares to that of Argentine.

“There are not enough hospitals in Milan but the doctors are making a great effort to save lives. Nobody expected these numbers. I have seen that in Argentina there are cases of Coronavirus and I believe that the government has taken the correct measures to deal with it,” he started.

He then went on to discuss how he and his family are dealing with the current situation and also spoke on what football is trying to do to help out in this crisis situation.

“I’m fine, I’m at home, focused on my family. We are doing what is right at the moment. The children are doing their lessons from home.

“The situation is very difficult, after China we are the country with the most infections in the world and for this reason hospitals are full.

“Lombardy is the most affected area, especially in Brescia, Bergamo and Milan, but there is an enormous force to save people and to try to find as many artificial respirators as possible.

“There is a lot of sensitivity and solidarity from everyone, in the football world and in general we are trying to help because the hospitals are full.

“Doctors are doing a huge job. Everything is closed but supermarkets and pharmacies are still open. We try not to go out to avoid reducing the number of infected people.

“We are trying to do everything possible, even in the world of football because it is about health which is the most important thing. There is a lot of responsibility from everyone, I hope that gradually we find a solution even if it is very complicated.”

Zanetti then went on to discuss what Inter have done to keep their players and staff safe during this time.

“For the moment we [people associated with Inter] have no symptoms and we have to stay in quarantine until March 25 and then we will see when we can start to train again.

“Inter has put several measures in place to deal with the situation. The club nutritionist is preparing players meals and is delivering them their food to their homes.”

Next he was asked about Lucas Martinez Quarta, the River Plate defender who has been linked with Inter recently: “He is one of the most interesting players in Argentine football.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on Lautaro Martinez.

“Lautaro is among the best and he is only 22 years old. We are happy with him and he is happy at Inter. What he is doing is fantastic, even with Argentina.”
