Serie A clubs have expressed an interest in having the Summer transfer window extended due to the current situation according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

If the current season is to end in July, if it does indeed start back up again, clubs would like to see the window extended until the end of September or even early October.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to add that clubs would be willing to have the January transfer window cut short to allow for the Summer transfer window to be extended.

This request is understood to be one of a number that Lega Serie A submitted to the Italian football federation FIGC and European football’s governing body UEFA on behalf of the clubs who are seeking help in these difficult times.

Reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that clubs are also exploring the possibility of players wages being cut, possibly by as much as 30%, to help cushion the financial blow the current situation has caused.
