Inter are ahead of the pack in the race to sign Hellas Verona starlet Marash Kumbulla, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are one of many clubs interested in the 19-year-old Albanian defender, who has exploded onto the scene this season with the Gialloblu. Both Lazio and Chelsea are also incredibly keen on Kumbulla but Inter are still ahead of the rest.

Whilst offers for the defender are expected from the Premier League, the report continues, Inter are still the favourites to secure his signature. Lazio have a slight advantage in that their sporting director Igli Tare and starting goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha are both compatriots of the Kumbulla and have been in contact with his entourage.

Kumbulla has made 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1581 minutes. In that time, he has impressed with his quick feet and clinical tackling.
