Lega Serie A and the Italian players association (AIC) are to try and come to an agreement over player salaries by the end of the week according to a report from Italian news agency ANSA.

Lega Serie A and the AIC met earlier on tonight to hold talks about player salaries being reduced to help mitigate the financial damage caused by the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

The report explains that the meeting between the parties was cordial and both sides made initial proposals on the matter.

Lega Serie A proposed the suspension of players wages for the next four months whilst the AIC hit back with a counter proposal of a one month suspension of wages.

Reigning Italian champions Juventus have already taken action when it comes to reducing player salaries. The Bianconeri club reached an agreement with their players that will see them waive their salaries for the months of March, April, May and June.
