European football’s governing body UEFA could opt to change the format of both the Champions League and Europa League from the semi final stage onward in order to help the tournaments to finish according to a report from British news outlet The Daily Mirror.
As per the report, UEFA could decide to play the semi finals and final of both tournaments in a single city. The Champions League games could take place in Istanbul, Turkey where the final is due to be hosted whilst the Europa League games could be played in Gdansk, Poland, where the final is scheduled to be played.
It is however unclear when UEFA want this to happen.
The report goes on to explain that UEFA may even decide to scrap the UEFA Super Cup which was due to take place in Porto and the report highlights that the match is now no longer mentioned on the UEFA website.
