Inter are looking for a replacement for veteran defender Diego Godin, with two names in particular catching their attention, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the Nerazzurri management have been considering signing Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen in the summer, after the Belgian’s contract expires with the North London club. The player is unlikely to sign a contract renewal with the club and is looking for a new challenge elsewhere.
However, Vertonghen isn’t as exciting as the other name that the Nerazzurri are thinking about, the report continues. Hellas Verona’s defender Marash Kumbulla has excited Inter this season, with a series of strong performances despite his young age.
The 19-year-old Albanian international, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2022, is worth around €20 million and Inter are prepared to offer Verona Federico Dimarco and Eddie Salcedo in exchange for the talented youngster.
