Inter have a plan to strengthen their defense in the summer by signing a veteran and a talented youngster, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are looking to sign Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen. The 32-year-old Belgian centre back’s contract expires with the North London club in the summer and can be signed on a free transfer, although Inter will have to compete with Ajax for his signature.

Vertonghen would take the place of Uruguayan defender Diego Godin in the squad, with the former Atletico Madrid man likely to head to Spurs.

The Milanese club will also look to sign Hellas Verona starlet Marash Kumbulla, the report continues. Inter will sign him in the summer, giving the Gialloblu Federico Dimarco and Eddie Salcedo in exchange, before sending him back to Ivan Juric’s side on loan to give him more regular playing time.
