UEFA have distanced themselves from the comments made by president Aleksander Ceferin that suggested that the European cups must be finished by August 3rd, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calcioefinanza.it today.
The report details how UEFA have not finalised a precise date yet for the completion of both the Europa League and the Champions League. They are currently analysing all options with the ECA and the European leagues in the group that was set up in March. The priority of all members is to preserve public health, not risk that just to complete the season.
Following this, the next aim is to find a way to organise a calendar that allows for the completion of all competitions, both domestic and continental, the report continues. Options include playing games in July and August, depending on the situation in that time as well as the authorisation of the national authorities.
