Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso has hit out at former Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi over claims he has made about Federico Chiesa’s future.
In a recent interview, Renzi, who served as Italy’s prime minister between 2014 and 2016, claimed that as per his sources, Chiesa would be heading to Inter.
“Renzi says Chiesa is going to Inter? If I don’t know this, then how does he know? He is a great fan and friend but I’ll handle the football, he should think about politics,” Commisso said in an interview with Italian radio station Radio 24 show Tutto Convocati this afternoon.
Chiesa has been strongly linked with a move to Inter for a number of seasons now and Inter’s arch rivals Juventus have also been linked with him for a long time too.
The winger is widely regarded as one of the top Italian prospects out there at the moment and has a contract with La Viola until the end of the 2021/22 season but it is no secret that Fiorentina have held talks over a contract extension.
This season Chiesa has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored seven goals and provided five assists.
