Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen are doing what they can to convince Jan Vertonghen to join Inter on a free transfer in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vertonghen’s contract with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur is due to expire at the end of this season and national team teammate Lukaku and former Spurs teammate Eriksen are trying to get him to join them in Milan.

Inter are willing to give Vertonghen a two year contract with an option to a third year.

The experienced Belgian national team centre back is one of two centre backs that Inter are keeping tabs on at the moment with the other being Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla.

Inter are leading the race to land the promising Albanian national team defender who could cost them in the region of €20 million.

Inter face no shortage of competition for Kumbulla with it understood several German and English clubs are also keen on him.
