Legendary Italian national team midfielder Demetrio Albertini has admitted to being surprised by how Stefano Sensi has fared in his first season with Inter.

Sensi joined Inter on a season long loan from fellow Serie A side Sassuolo this past Summer and as part of the deal Inter have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €25 million.

Recent reports state that Inter do in fact have a gentleman’s agreement in place with Sassuolo that means they will take up the option to sign the highly rated 24-year-old.

Sensi got life in Nerazzurri off to a flyer with him playing a considerable role in the first few weeks of the season but he has found himself on the sidelines for large spells of the season due to various injuries.

“Sensi surprised me. I didn’t think he could do so well in the first year of Inter. There are many good midfielders, even young ones, out there at the moment,” Albertini explained in an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport which appeared in today’s print edition.
