Adrian Ruben Fernandez, the head of Racing Club’s youth academy, has tipped Inter striker Lautaro Martinez to be the next Sergio Aguero.

In an interview with Spanish news outlet AS, Fernandez, who was among the first to see the now 22-year-old in action upon his arrival at Racing Club from Liniers in 2014, revealed what he thought of him the first time he seen him play.

“He was incredible and had the ability to control the ball with both feet. He was a marvel then and he has been able to develop as he wished to back then.”

He then went on to reveal that he had a big part to play in Lautaro knocking back Real Madrid a few years ago.

“I told him that he had not yet done anything at Racing and that better offers would come. He knew that in the future there would be more benefits for himself and for the club.”

He was then asked whether he thinks Lautaro should go to either Real Madrid or Barcelona now amid continued links to each side in the media of various countries.

“I think that at the Blaugrana he would be more decisive due to the players who are in midfield and for the fact that he would play with Messi. He is the ideal heir of Luis Suarez. He can face any challenge, as he is showing at Inter. He will score between 400-500 goals in his career. He is the next Sergio Aguero.”

This season Lautaro, who has a contract with Inter until 2023, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 16 goals and provided a total of four assists to his teammates.
