In an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio, former Inter player Massimo Paganin has expressed his views on a potential swap deal between Inter and Barcelona involving Lautaro Martinez and Antoine Griezmann.

Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro Martinez is no secret and it is understood that he is one of, if not their top transfer target ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Various reports have suggested that they would like to do a player(s) plus cash deal for the highly rated 22-year-old although other reports have stated Inter will only let him go if his €111 million release clause is paid.

Reports in the past few days however have speculated about the possibility of a swap deal that would see Lautaro and Griezmann exchanged.

Paganin, who represented Inter between 1993 and 1997, firstly spoke on Griezmann.

“Griezmann is an absolute top level player who perhaps deserved to win the Balon d’Or when France won the World Cup. He is a player who makes a difference but is not doing very well at Barcelona.”

He then spoke on Lautaro: “Nobody believed he would explode like he has this year. Inter did not expect him to make such an immediate impact nor such a good partnership with Lukaku.”

Next he discussed the possibility of the players being exchanged.

“It will be difficult, but in football you can never say never. Griezmann would give a lot to the dressing room, it would be an added value. Griezmann would adapt well to the position that Lautaro now plays.”
