Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has told the Nerazzurri’s management that he wants to join Barcelona in the summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Marca.
The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has a €111 million release clause, a significantly lower number compared to the Blaugrana’s other dream target, Brazilian forward Neymar. The Catalan club believe Lautaro would be the perfect replacement for the aging Luis Suarez, who will be 34 next January. In recent seasons the player has suffered from injuries and Lautaro would be able to slot in the squad perfectly.
Lautaro has communicated to both Barcelona and Inter that he wants to make the move to Spain in the summer, the report continues, as he believes that now is the right time for the deal. The Blaugrana plan to lower the raw cost of the 22-year-old by offering players to Inter in exchange, with names like Arturo Vidal cropping up.
