The Italian government minister for sport Vincenzo Spadafora is to meet with several Italian football officials today to discuss the resumption of the 2019/20 campaign according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Italian football federation (FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina, Paolo Zeppilli the head of the medical commission will both be present at the meeting as will representatives from Lega Serie A, Lega Serie B, Lega Pro, Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (amateur football), Italian player association, Italian manager association and referees.

The report from the Milan based newspaper warns that this meeting is only likely to be an interlocutory meeting and little will actually be decided at it, apart from partially re-opening training on an individual basis.

Not much more can be decided due to the fact a new Italian government decree is due in the early part of next week and the contents of it could well scupper anything agreed upon at the meeting today.
