Romelu Lukaku’s recent interview with Belgian television presenter Kat Kerkhofs could be a hint at Inter’s intentions ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
Kerkhofs is in fact married to Napoli star Dries Mertens, a player who has been very strongly linked with a move to Inter in recent weeks and months.
The 32-year-old Belgian attacker’s current deal with the Stadio San Paolo club is due to expire at the end of the season and for this reason Inter are reportedly keen on bringing him in on a free transfer.
Lukaku and Mertens have a very good relationship with one another due to their time spent together in the Belgian national team, something which could well help Inter in their pursuit of Mertens and could help convince him to swap Naples for Milan.
This season Mertens has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists.
