In an Instagram Live interview with Italian tennis star Fabio Fognini, Inter owned midfielder Radja Nainggolan has spoken on his time with the club and firstly spoke about what led to him departing Roma to join Inter in the Summer of 2018.
“I left my heart in Rome, as that was a unique experience. Unfortunately, I let pride get the better of me and that made me change clubs,” he explained in the interview which took place earlier on today.
He then went on to say he is satisfied with what he done in his first season with Inter but admitted that he knows he was still not at his best for the Nerazzurri.
“I went to Inter with a coach who really wanted me there. I arrived with so much enthusiasm, then I got injured and had some problems. Looking at the statistics, I can be satisfied, even if I can do better. It wasn’t the best of Nainggolan at Inter.”
Nainggolan, who still has a contract with Inter until the end of the 2021/22 season, then gave himself a vote of confidence by stating that he thinks he has what it takes to make an impact with Inter.
“I did still hope to be given another chance, but that didn’t happen. It’s a decision I have to accept. I have another two years on my contract with Inter, we’ll see what happens, as so much has changed at the club.
“I still believe that I can have my say at Inter. I never had any problems in the dressing room, despite what’s reported.”
Nainggolan is currently out on loan at fellow Serie A club Cagliari and he has found his best form again. In 24 appearances across all competitions, he has scored five goals and provided six assists for his teammates.
