Roma have moved to deny rumours circulating in the Italian media that they are looking to move striker and club captain Edin Dzeko on due to his big wages.
A report emerged earlier on today which suggested they are considering shifting the Bosnia and Herzegovina international due to his big pay packet but a Roma source has told Italian news agency ANSA that they are currently happy with Dzeko and are not considering his future in the Italian capital.
“AS Roma is extremely satisfied with how Edin is playing the role of captain, even more in such a delicate moment.
“There is no strategy in place to change his future, which is in Rome, nor has the club thought of reviewing its agreements with the player.”
In the report that was released today it was suggested that Inter could go in for him if they are unable to complete a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and given Roma’s stance on the matter, it remains to be seen what it will mean for Inter’s alleged interest.
The 34-year-old has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists for his teammates.
