European football’s governing body UEFA have dismissed media claims made regarding the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) thoughts regarding the resumption of football according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

Some reports began doing the rounds earlier on today which claimed the World Health Organisation had recommended to football authorities to not allow play to resume until at least 2021.

A UEFA spokesperson has however denied that this is the case to Sky Sport Italia and has insisted that UEFA are carrying on with their plans to resume the 2019/20 season and finishing it when possible alongside their 55 member federations in accordance with the relevant medical protocol.

Football across the continent of Europe and pretty much everywhere across the world is currently on hold due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

Some leagues such as the Belgian Pro League and lower tier leagues in some countries have already decided to cancel the remainder of their seasons but the majority of leagues are still working with the aim of resuming the season.
