Between today and tomorrow, European football’s governing body UEFA will continue to work on coming up with a new look calendar according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

UEFA wish for the seasons in all of their 55 member federations to be finished and there are two ways that this could happen.

The seasons could resume and all remaining games played or the formats of each season could be modified and the restart could see teams finish the season by playing playoffs/mini-tournaments.

In the event that a season cannot resume, UEFA will leave it up to each league to decide who they submit for European competitions.

With regard to the Champions League and Europa League, the report states that UEFA could have the remaining games played in parallel with domestic campaigns or the most probable outcome is that domestic seasons will finish and then the remaining Champions League and Europa League games will be played.

As for next season’s Champions League and Europa League, UEFA hope to have a list of qualified teams by August 3 and are ready to cut out a qualification round. The groups will be drawn in September and the group stages will begin in late September or early October.
