European football’s governing body UEFA have requested that their 55 member federations tell them their plans for what they plan to do with the remainder of this season by May 27 at the latest according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.
Football across the continent has been on hold for about a month now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and whilst leagues such as the Belgian Pro League have already decided to cancel the remainder of the season, it remains unclear what the intentions of the majority of leagues are.
The German Bundesliga aim to make a return to action at the beginning of next month whilst all 20 Serie A clubs have voted unanimously in favour of resuming and finishing the season when possible if the Italian government allow it.
The report from Sport Mediaset goes on to add that UEFA have decided that if leagues cannot conclude then seasons will be determined by sporting merit.
