Inter and Real Madrid have both sparked an interest in signing Roma captain Edin Dzeko ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.
Roma do not wish to lose Dzeko but it is no secret that his high wages are a burden on the club and the report goes on to explain he could therefore be asked to take a pay cut and an exit from the club cannot be excluded either.
With Inter and Real Madrid seemingly interested, Roma are at work to ensure they do not find themselves unprepared if Dzeko is bought by someone else.
The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to explain that the Giallorossi club have identified Napoli’s Dries Mertens as a player they could move for if he does go.
The Belgian national team attacker’s contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of the season and he is also widely reported to be a target of Inter’s as well.
