Inter are accelerating in the race to sign Hellas Verona talent Marash Kumbulla after the player declined an offer from Napoli, according to reports from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia and Italian media outlet Gianlucadimarzio.com earlier today.

The reports detail how the 20-year-old Albanian defender, who is contracted to the Gialloblu until 2022, declined an offer from Napoli earlier today.

The Partenopei had already reached an agreement with Verona, offering them €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Aurelio De Laurentiis will now have to look elsewhere for a new defender, giving Inter less competition.

The Nerazzurri are still in contact with Verona, the report continues, and seem to have a clear path now to sign Kumbulla, unless higher offers come from abroad, with clubs in Germany interested. The Gialloblu are asking for €30 million, but clearly, they are open to negotiations.

Kumbulla has made 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1581 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and helped the side keep seven clean sheets.
