Inter Preparing Double Swoop For RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner & Napoli’s Dries Mertens

Inter are preparing to sign both Napoli forward Dries Mertens and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are looking for a potential replacement for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who is heavily wanted by Spanish giants Barcelona.

The first player that the Milanese club are preparing to sign is Mertens, whose contract expires with Napoli at the end of this season. Whilst a renewal looked likely at the start of last month, now the two parties are further away than ever.

Inter are also looking to acquire Werner, the report continues. The German has a €60 million release clause, which isn’t too high, but the deadline of April 30^th means that an offer will need to be launched soon. Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also looking to sign Werner, but the Nerazzurri will still try.
