Former Inter defender Andreas Brehme discussed the possible restart of the season and Antonio Conte’s Inter in an interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb earlier today.

“The Bundesliga is planning to restart. Of course, I am nostalgic for football and would like to see the end of the season but the authorities have to decide whether this will be possible.”

The 59-year-old German then spoke about Conte’s Inter squad.

“A great team, with a great coach. The squad certainly has room for improvement and good promise for the future.”

He touched on Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

“He’s a really great player and I’m not at all surprised that so many clubs have their eye on him. At the same time, as an Inter fan, I think that he should stay.”

Finally, Brehme spoke about Inter target Timo Werner, who has impressed with German side RB Leipzig this season.

“Timo is an incredible striker, with an impressive speed and technique. He can do even better. I understand that people create a lot of interest, but let’s not underestimate Leipzig. It’s a very well run club and I know that Timo feels really good, perfectly comfortable at RB Leipzig.”

The 22-year-old Lautaro, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2437 minutes. In that time, he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists, forming a formidable partnership with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer, with the Blaugrana looking for a long-term replacement for the aging Luis Suarez, although Inter are still keen to keep the player.
