Atletico Madrid are prepared to offer Inter target Edinson Cavani a two-year contract, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the English tabloid the Daily Mail.

The report details how the 33-year-old Uruguayan forward’s contract is expiring with Paris Saint Germain at the end of the season, and Diego Simeone’s team are incredibly keen to sign the player on a free transfer. The Nerazzurri were initially interested in Cavani, but his high wages and age have turned the Milanese club away.

Atletico will offer Cavani a two-year contract, the report continues, worth over €11 million net a year. Simeone considers the former Palermo Striker perfect for his new project and wants to bring the star to Madrid. Paris Saint Germain aren’t interested in offering Cavani a new contract and now it seems unlikely that he will join Inter either.

Cavani has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1096 minutes. In that time, he has scored seven goals and provided three assists.
