Inter prefer the idea of signing Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner should Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez be sold to Barcelona in the summer, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri aren’t willing to give the Blaugrana a discount on Lautaro, still asking for €90 million in cash as well as one or two players in exchange. Talks are ongoing and no final decisions have been made yet. Regardless, the Milanese club are still searching for the perfect replacement.

That player might be Aubameyang, the report continues, for multiple reasons. The player’s contract expires with the Gunners at the end of next season and he has refused to renew it, meaning that the North London club are likely to sell him at a lower price in order to avoid the chances of him leaving on a free transfer in a year’s time.

Aubameyang would cost around €35-40 million, the report continues, significantly less than RB Leipzig’s requested €60 million for Werner. The German striker has also been in contact with Liverpool for many months now and the English side have offered him an £8 million salary.
