There is no chance that Mauro Icardi could return to the Inter squad, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are looking at multiple players who could potentially replace Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer, should the 22-year-old Argentine forward be sold to Barcelona. The Milanese club are also considering signing some players on a free transfer, like Dries Mertens or Edinson Cavani.

One idea that Inter have no interest in, the report continues, is the idea of Icardi returning to the fold. Should French side Paris Saint Germain decide not to permanently sign the 27-year-old for around €70 million, the Nerazzurri would be prepared to negotiate directly with Juventus.

Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season, for a total of 1958 minutes. In that time, he has scored 20 goals and provided four assists, but has failed to fully convince coach Thomas Tuchel.
