Ralf Rangnick, the current Head of the Sports and Development Division of the Red Bull group, discussed Inter target Timo Werner in an interview with German media outlet Mitteldeutsche Zeitung earlier today.

“I know his family, even his girlfriend can advise him very well. He must continue to improve, especially in his performance. I’d be happy if he stayed. If he were to leave, he could be replaced, but Timo will have to consider whether in another club he will have the opportunity to play regularly as he does at Leipzig.”

Inter are considering signing Werner as a potential replacement for Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who is the top target of Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are hoping to sign the player no matter what, with the Nerazzurri insisting for €90 million in cash as well as one or two players in exchange. Werner has been noted as a strong alternative, but he is also wanted by Premier League side Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s team offering him a £8 million per year salary.

Werner has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2832 minutes. In that time, he has scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists, being one of the most dangerous strikers in the Bundesliga this season.
