Inter intend to remove the release clause in Marcelo Brozovic’s current contract by signing him to a new and improved deal according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The Croatian national team midfielder is currently under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of the 2021/22 season and Inter wish to give him a new contract without a release clause amid interest from Champions League holders Liverpool.

Brozovic has a €60 million release clause in his current deal and Inter hope to deter the interest shown in him by removing it which will give them more bargaining power if clubs do come in for the 27-year-old.

The former Dinamo Zagreb player joined Inter back in January 2015 and has since went on to make 186 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 23 goals and provided 22 assists.

32 of those appearances have come this season alongside three of the goals and five of the assists.
