Getafe president Angel Torres has suggested that they play their Europa League last 16 matches against Inter at the beginning of August.

The matches, which were due to take place on March 12 and March 19, between the two sides were postponed as a result of the Coronavirus crisis and almost all football worldwide remains at a standstill due to the crisis.

Whilst some leagues are preparing to return, namely the German Bundesliga which is set to return next week, it remains to be seen if the Europa League and other competitions will resume but Torres has given dates when he thinks the games could be played.

“The first leg in Italy should be on August 2 or 3, whilst the return leg in Spain should be played on August 6 or 7,” Torres, who has been president of the La Liga outfit since July 2002, explained in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Cope earlier on today.

Torres then went on to state what he would like to see happen in the event that games cannot be played at either of the club’s home stadiums.

“In case it is not possible to play at San Siro and the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, the matches should be played on a neutral pitch.”
