Legendary Inter goalkeeper has reflected on Inter’s historic treble winning 2009/10 season 10 years on from it happening.

Inter firstly won the Coppa Italia on May 5 2010, they followed it up by clinching the Serie A title on May 16 following a win over Siena and they completed the treble by beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

In achieving the treble, Inter became the only Italian team in history to do so and they remain the only Italian club to have achieved this feat to this day.

“It was a fantastic year. The Champions League was the icing on the cake for all the investment that Massimo Moratti had made into the club,” he remarked in an interview with broadcaster Eleven Sports Portugal.

“He has made his dream come true, but also that of many Inter fans who had waited 45 years to see the club become champions of Europe. Every player in that squad has written his name in the club’s history.”

The former Brazilian national team goalkeeper proceeded to talk about the man who managed Inter to the historic treble, Jose Mourinho, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest manager’s of all time.

“He came with the goal of winning the Champions League and in the second season he did it. Mourinho instilled confidence in to that team. Each player after his words, felt the best in the world.

“To win the Champions League in 2010, we beat Chelsea, who would become Premier League champions, CSKA Moscow, Barcelona, the team to beat at the time, and Bayern, who could have won the treble like us had they won in Madrid. In that Inter team we stripped ourselves of all the vanities and rowed in the same direction.”

Cesar spent seven years with Inter between 2005 and 2012 and made a total of 300 appearances across all competitions and kept 128 clean sheets in the process.
