Inter linked forward Edinson Cavani could stay at Paris Saint Germain if they decide not to sign Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the French newspaper L’Equipe.

The report details how the 27-year-old Inter owned forward’s future in Paris is unclear. Despite recent reports that the Parisian club are looking to sign Icardi, although with a discount, a new opportunity has arisen. PSG could decide to renew Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani’s contract, an idea excluded by the player himself until now.

Cavani’s dreams have changed, the report continues, and has been earning more play time since January at the expense of Icardi. The player would be happy to stay in the French capital, giving PSG more options. Renewing the forward’s contract would be significantly cheaper than signing Icardi, considering his €70 million price tag.

The 33-year-old has made 22 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in that time.
