The chances of Lautaro Martinez departing Inter have increased and as a result Inter have identified a number of players who could potentially replace him according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The highly rated 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Barcelona have offered him a €10 million a year contract, something Inter simply cannot afford to give him and it is now up to the player to decide his future.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio wish to get as much money as possible in the event he leaves the club in order to fund a move for a replacement.

Timo Werner is on the club’s radar but his €50 million release clause is considered too high and Inter also face competition from Liverpool.

Napoli’s Dries Mertens, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is also a potential option for Inter as is Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani.
